Safe, adapted housing provides our residents with long-term stability, letting them focus on enjoying their lives.
Since 2004, Jer has lived at one of SOHO’s eight specialised supported housing schemes in Cinderford. The cluster of eight properties provides homes for 26 adult residents with learning disabilities, who live with support from Merry Den Care. Jer has been there for over 20 years, and the scheme has a strong community feel, with residents coming together for social events.
Whilst 85, he proudly embraces life as a 9-year-old boy. His world is full of creativity, joy and connection. A talented artist, his drawings brighten spaces throughout the local community.
He’s also an incredible whistler – performing on stage at events like the Coleford Music Festival.
Four years ago, he shared with his support team that he had never had a birthday party. Since then, every year, the team ensure he gets the celebration he deserves, surrounded by friends in his home.
